Cave of the Winds was a large natural cave behind Bridal Veil Falls open to tourists from 1924 to 1954 but closed due to a large rockfall and subsequent decision to dynamite the surrounding rock to avoid further danger to visitors in 1954.This action obliterated the original Cave itself.

Today "Cave of the Winds" has been reimagined as a tourist attraction reached by elevator from between the American and Canadian Falls down to the level of the Niagara River at the base of American Falls where a series of decks and platforms allow sightseers to walk right up to the base of Bridal Veil Falls with water crashing down onto them and flowing beneath the decking.  Winds can reach upwards of 70 mph underneath the falls. Hence the nickname "Hurricane Deck" has been applied to this area.
