Most of the Japanese promo cassettes I list on eBay are extremely rare, not found on Discogs, and have never been seen on Japanese auction and classified apps like Yafuoku, Merukari.

Since the late 1980s, the number of CD-only releases has increased in Japan. Typically, there are no cassette tape releases, with official tapes usually being made for promotional purposes and not available for sale.
