Hôtel-Dieu de Lyon in the 18th century
Italy attracts him; he left there in 1807 and ended up settling in 1809 in Milan, then capital of the Kingdom of ItalyNote 1. It is there that Jean-Antoine-François became a doctor in 1810 and that his son Frédéric was born. He returned to Lyon in 1816 where he was appointed to the Hôtel-Dieu as a substitute doctor in 1818 then as a permanent doctor from 1823 to 1834. Doctor Ozanam lives with his family on rue Pizay.
