We use Italian leather that is vegetable tanned, a process with thousands of years of history that gives the leather depth and a natural look and feel, which improves with age. Emerging from England in the 19th century, the derby is almost indistinguishable from the blucher (there's a slight variance in the piece of leather where you can find your derby's eyelets)—they both step away from the oxford in their open-lacing systems, allowing for greater flexibility.
