Original antique fashion print:

LES ROBES DE VELOURS ET FOURRURE

Published by Hachette &Co. Paris 1917 in "Les Elegances Parisiennes" edited by H.Bernard.

Six ladies model elegant velvet and fur dresses. Each garment is identified by number and the French text beneath the image offers a detailed description.

A beautiful large format double page fashion print which would frame up perfectly for display. The print was formerly held in the private library of Bianchini-Ferier, the world famous silk weaving house.

This is a fine art nouveau lithograph with the original hand colouring remaining bright and fresh.

Although technically intended as haute couture advertising, these wonderful images in the classic art nouveau style are perhaps better considered as highly decorative art work to be appreciated for their aesthetic qualities.

A prime example in fine, clean condition other than some light toning to the paper extremities (outer margins only). Free of repairs or restoration, central fold as issued with some unrelated printing verso.

 Approx. 23" x 16" (600mm x 410mm) overall.

LES ELEGANCES PARISIENNES was a highly influential fashion journal briefly published in Paris during World War I. The leading Parisian fashion designers endeavoured to maintain their position in the English, French and American fashion markets during the difficult wartime years. The lavish illustrations from the journal are now extremely scarce and highly collectable.
