I am fortunate in that my business travel often lets me attend the final days of orchid shows throughout the country. I have been able to acquire a lot of orchids that small business orchid breeders have developed. "Midas Touch" is one such orchid. I bought this cymbidium orchid in 2020 as the amber gold flowers are uniquely beautiful. The "Midas Touch" cymbidium orchid is a free flowering cymbidium orchid that may not be commercially available.
"Midas Touch" is named after the mythical king who turned to gold everything he touched. But, unlike the ill fated king Midas, gold flowers have a different meaning. Symbolically, an amber gold flower represents warmth, abundance, and prosperity, embodying the richness of nature's gifts and the allure of precious treasures. Traditionally a gold flower's radiant color and elegant form make it a striking symbol of beauty and elegance, capable of inspiring awe and admiration in all who behold it.
Although the video or the photos do not really capture its beauty, these amber gold blossoms are uniquely beautiful, especially when situated near the more common white cymbidium orchids.
The plant itself is relatively care free and an easy bloomer. The bulbs are only about half the size of the pseudobulbs of a traditional cymbidium orchids. But the flowers are just as large as the traditional cymbidium flower. This orchid tends to bloom in the March to April time frame.

You are bidding on a blooming side division of the Midas Touch Cymbidium orchid.
The large division has at least ten pseudobulbs. This plant's pseudobulbs are about half the size of a standard cymbidium pseudobulb. But the flowers are as large as the standard cymbidium flower.
The pictures you see of the plant that is not in bloom is the exact division that you will receive.
The plant will be shipping bare root. (No Pot). When you receive the division, you should be plant it in a six inch pot with a good orchid potting mixture.

One final note: I am not a commercial plant breeder. I am just someone who is lucky in that my business travel allows me visit orchid shows all over the United States. Although they cost more, I prefer to buy orchids at shows because the flower colors always seem more vibrant to me and the plant perform better than the orchids you see in warehouse stores.
I buy orchids that are appealing to me. And as they grow and need to be divided , I offer them for bid on eBay. Since I am not paying employees or having to maintain large green houses, I can offer the plants at a pretty low cost to other hobbyists. A potted blooming orchid of this size at a orchid show sells in the $ 75.00 to $ 95.00 range . The opening bid is much lower than that price. A smart buyer will land up with a orchid show quality plant at very good price.

This auction for this orchid ends on Sunday, May 5, 2024. If you pay at the end of the auction, I will ship the orchid on Monday, May 6, 2024 using USPS priority mail. The orchid should arrive at your home two to four days later. I will send the winning bidder an email on Monday evening that includes a delivery confirmation number that may be used to track the package enroute.

- Look at my feedback. All my plants are purchased at orchid shows so they are of very high quality. All my past buyers have left positive feedback. My belief is that you can tell how a seller will treat you by how that seller has treated past buyers.
- I am not a commercial grower. The plant you see in the pictures is the actual plant you will receive. Since I am not taking care of thousands of plants like a commercial grower, the auction plant has received individual care and is in better shape than one received from a green house.
- Since I am not a commercial grower, I do not have to pay to maintain greenhouses and workers. As a result, I can offer the extra plants from my hobby at a lower cost
- The plant should bloom and do well in your home as the plants have bloomed and done well in my home. Sometimes plants have a rough transition from the ideal well lighted and humid commercial green houses to conditions that exist in our houses. This plant is already used to normal home conditions.
- The shipping price is fixed. Sometimes when people buy flowering plants on eBay, the plants are located in Australia or other distant locations so the shipping rate is very high.
