Hand-coloured Geological Survey of England and Wales Sheet LXXXIII NE,
covering the Worksop, Bawtry and East Retford areas, on a scale of One Inch to
One Statute Mile.
The map
was geologically surveyed by W.T. Aveline A.H. Green, T.V. Holmes and Sir
Andrew Crombie Ramsay, thereafter published in 1861 by the famous geologists and
Sir Roderick Impey Murchison.
The map
incorporates the embossed stamp of the Ordnance Survey at the top centre, with
the stamps of Pawson and Brailsford, Map Agents, and J.W. Ormiston & Sons,
Mining Consultants towards the bottom right corners.
It is printed on thick parchment type paper. The map itself measures
approximately 36cm by
29cm with titles, notes and scale bar on the wide
margins. The whole sheet measures approximately 58cm x 42cm and is in very good
condition for its age (see photos).
It is ideal for framing and would be of interest to local
historians/collectors.
(Postage cost outwith the UK to be confirmed.)
