The Lenci company of Torino, Italy is most famous for their dolls.  However they also made other items including this lovely basket.  The same wool felt and cloth flowers that are used to decorate their dolls also decorate this basket.  This is a wood framed sewing basket that folds open and closed.  The Lenci company, now closed, was located in Torino, Italy and is mostly known for their felt dolls.  The wood frame is fitted with a cloth basket trimmed with felt flowers and other felt trim. It also has two felt handles for carrying.  There is one interior pocket.

The basket's wood frame is in good condition only having some paint worn away, probably from use.  The fabric has a slub in the weave causing a small partial line in the fabric. Otherwise, the fabric is in good condition.  The flowers still have their vibrant colors and I cannot find any moth damage.

This basket does not have a Lenci tag.

This basket was probably made in the 1950 to 1960s. According to Nancy Lazenby's book on Lenci, "An undated catalog (thought to be from the late 1950s) ... showed a large number of household items such as lined baskets, ...  many of the Lenci baskets decorated with felt flowers, and offered on the secondary market today, are from the late 1950s through the 1960s..."
