Hobby Vermiculite, Ø 3-6 mm, 4 liters

  • Contents: 4 liters
  • Substrate for incubating reptile eggs.
  • Coarse grain size of 3-6 mm with improved gas exchange thanks to more air-filled pores.
  • Recommended for large and hard-shelled eggs.

The substrate moisture has a significant influence on the development of reptile eggs. Soft-shelled eggs in particular absorb large amounts of moisture during incubation. The substrate moisture can be controlled by adding water and the grain size.

Fine-grained vermiculite has greater water potential and fits closer to the eggs. It is recommended for small and soft-shelled eggs. Coarser vermiculite improves gas exchange through more air-filled pores. It is recommended for large and hard-shelled eggs.

Replace evaporated water regularly. Only incubate as many eggs per container as are half the weight of the water. Do not allow the relative humidity to fall below 70% for hard-shelled eggs and 90% for soft-shelled eggs
