Art Deco style vintage matt gold tone narrow bar brooch with a small knot at the centre, surrounding a tiny bezel set blue stone.
This is a deceptively simple bar brooch - look closely and you can see that the little knot in the centre is a real knot made from interwoven metal strips. The tiny bright blue stone in the middle of the knot is faceted and held within a pie crust edged bezel - just so pretty! In great condition and lovely quality, the gold tone has a beautiful and quite unusual matt finish. I presume that the stone is made from good quality glass and the facets and open back to the bezel allow light to twinkle around the stone as it is moved. I think this brooch was produced in the first quarter to half century of the 20thC, and has an unusual hook shaped c-clasp (see photo 5) . The clasp is marked "KS" "AM.DBL". I haven't found out who the "KS" or just what AM.DBL means, but I will keep looking!
