The E335-s is a solid body es335 shaped guitar and quite a rare model. The Professional Deluxe was the top of the range. It has a 3 piece mahogany body and neck and is a very comfortable weight unlike 70s/80s Les Paul’s I’ve had in the past.

The good points:

Gibson pearloid logo came standard on the deluxe models, nicely yellowed with age

PAT number pickups, the neck looks to be totally original to the guitar and untouched, the bridge is probably a replacement as it would have been an uncovered zebra like the neck. The bridge pickup cover is included in the case, but I’ve left it uncovered as I think it looks better.

The pots are original

The deluxe came with a factory coil tap which is fully functional

The deluxe models came with a beautiful bound ebony fretboard

The original frets are nicely polished

The fret nibs are still intact on the binding which is nicely yellowed in places

The bridge looks original.

The original speed knobs are nicely aged.

The original truss rod cover

The original Gibson hard case is in good condition with all latches intact and working, some vinyl lift at the seams commensurate with age and use

The guitar has had a pro set up and is playing nicely

The not so good points (depending on if your a collector vs a player):

The original tuners have been upgraded to a premium set of grovers which look great and work great

The guitar would have originally had a brass but. The nut on the guitar works great and tuning stability is spot on

The original TP6 tailpiece has been replaced with a standard tailpiece

The original Jack point has just been replaced as the original developed a fault and I wanted any new owners to it have any issues

All the above changes, other than the Jack point, were done by a previous owner so I do not have any of the old parts to include.

Overall condition is good for a 44 year old guitar that has been used and enjoyed. The cherry finish is still nice and rich. There are some lumps and bumps but nothing unsightly- just looks very cool and wonderfully used and enjoyed.

Collection only and Interested purchasers are welcome to come and inspect before you bid - I’m based in Burbage Leicestershire near M1 J21 / M6 J1 / M6 J2.

I’d love to keep it but needs must.

I’m pricing it what I think is very fair for a Gibson guitar of this age and condition.

Thanks for looking
