Deliziosa piccola acquaforte del 1660 circa, incisa da Israel Silvestre

Israel Silvestre viaggiò in ITalia tra il 1640 ed il 1650, poi tornò a Parigi, dove incise i disegni fatti nel viaggio, con un maestro d'eccezione: Jaques Callot. Tra le curiosità biografiche, Israel Silvestre viveva nel Louvre e insegnò a sua volta l'arte incisoria ad un nostro connazionale: Stefano della Bella. Inoltre nel 1661, acquisì l'esclusiva per stampare le opere di Jaques Callot suo maestro. Questi tre artisti sono molto simili nel tratto, ma a mio avviso, la precisione di Jaques Callot, non è stata raggiunta da nessuno degli altri due, forse solo il Della Bella ci si avvicinò con le vedute ampie e dettagliate come quella di Parigi.

Israel Silvestre traveled to Italy between 1640 and 1650, then returned to Paris, where he engraved the drawings made during the trip, with an exceptional master: Jacques Callot. Among the biographical curiosities, Israel Silvestre lived in the Louvre and in turn taught the art of engraving to one of our compatriots: Stefano della Bella. Furthermore, in 1661, he acquired the exclusive right to print the works of Jacques Callot, his master. These three artists are very similar in style, but in my opinion, the precision of Jaques Callot was not achieved by either of the other two, perhaps only Della Bella came close with the wide and detailed views like that of Paris.
