This is a vintage
SMARAGD 1001 CENTROPEN

fountain pen made in Czechoslovakia in 1956.

The Smaragd - Barclay brand was already known in the former Czechoslovakia in the 1940s, but this pen dates back to the 1950s, when the brand was taken over by Centropen. This is the last model produced under this name. The Barclay 1302 has an almost identical cap and clasp, hence the connection between the pen brands, as the Barclay brand was also incorporated under the Centropen brand after the war! (That about history.. :-))

The pen has a fine (F) stainless steel nib Ripedium point 50 and comes with no ink.
It is made of ebonite material and features gold trim.
The SMARAGD fountain pen is large, robust, but fits perfectly in the hand. The ink tank has a huge capacity.
The pen is in good condition and would be a great addition to any collector's set.
There are small cracks visible on the pen - on the cap, which, however, do not affect the function.
It is important to note that this pen is sold as is, with no guarantees or warranties.
Thank you for considering this unique and rare vintage fountain pen.
