This is a beautifully designed Victorian silver plated sardine dish.

It has a heavy quality cut glass inset.

On the lid are two crossed sardines.

On each corner of the base of the dish is a long sardine and the heads of these four sardines are the “feet” of the base and all rests on them.

The dish has a rope design handle.

Closed the dish measures approx. 5 ¼ inches x 4 ¼ inches and in height is approx. 2 inches, not counting the handle height.

The dish is in very good antique condition. There are no chips or cracks to the glass, the frame and lid are in very good condition. There is some loss to part of the silver plate on the lid.

This is a lovely antique piece. I have never seen a sardine dish before with sardines at the corners to hold the piece as in this case.

I have included a pair of silver plate tongs.

It is a heavy piece weighing over 800 grams before wrapping so cost of postage overseas reflects this.
