For sale my 1969 jaguar 240 in regency red paintwork which has been in my ownership for nearly 12 years, in need of light restoration now to body and paint please see photographs of the blistering to bottom of doors and wheel arches etc  will need some repairs or replacement of headlining too due to the little mices moving in ! Also a small chip to the windscreen (repairable) anyway those are pretty much the negatives that need to be addressed
Mechanically the car is very good recently the clutch has been changed the manifolds have been replaced, the radiator has been recored and new stainless heater pipes fitted and new rubber hoses, carburettors have been serviced and rebuilt, luminition optronic ignition replaced including coil, new underfelt and over carpets in red wool
Interior wood is in good condition and the cream ambla seats and interior are consummate with a car of this vintage , bright work is nice but slightly pitted but very presentable
The car has a full stainless steel exhaust system which emits a lovely raspy note when you put your right foot down !
4 speed with overdrive all works well , no power steering virtually no brakes but a real driving experience extremely comfortable absolutely floats over all the speed bumps and potholes which are more and more prevalent on the roads today!
Age correct radio am fm with apple connection (only the one crackly speaker though) good oil pressure see photo with engine running
The car comes with a cherished number plate (original registration) which is valued at in excess of the cost required to do the work required to bring the car upto better standard if this is something you may consider? Subject to submission of an mot to enable transfer of registration, i have never had the inclination to separate the car from its original number but a new owner may find this financially beneficial (similar 5 digit plates are retailing for circa £5000)
The car is tax exempt!
Mot exempt!
Classic car insurance for me and my wife 5000 miles fully comprehensive £130 per annum!
The milometer currently recorded at 90,000 miles but was changed due to faulty speedo at around 76,000 so milage is around 80,000 look on mot checker (when it required mot testing)to clarify,i have the replaced speedometer some where still so will check an do the calculation
I have really enjoyed owning the jag an doing the odd wedding or prom or just going for drive around the country lanes like i was being chased by the Sweeney! But new projects are all time consuming and the jag is getting less and less use probably 1,500 miles in the last three or four years, as we all know these old classics need and should be driven (weather permitting) so it’s with a heavy heart i think its time to let somebody else have the fun that i have had for the past 11 odd years
Boring bit now !
