Original vintage 1960's Devonshire Navy long length boots, Mod, gogo, UK size 7½

From my own personal collection of vintage clothing and accessories

These fab boots are in great unworn condition and are a rare find, especially to have survived  60 plus years without wear.

The boots are Devonshire brand, and we're made at the Mansfield shoe company.

I have included a small snippet of the and start and history of the Mansfield shoe company and the date and the introduction of the 'Devonshire' range.

Royce, Gascoine and Co., was founded as a partnership in 1867, between a Mansfield Shoemaker, Mr J.J Gascoine, and a Nottingham Leathermaker, Mr G.A Royce. By 1891 there were factories in Mansfield and Leicester.

In 1900, The Mansfield side of the business was formed into a separate company, Mansfield Shoe Co. Ltd, with premises on Dallas Street. Originally Mansfield Shoe Co. made boots, but this was gradually replaced with women’s shoes, 1907 saw the introduction of the ‘Devonshire’ shoe range.

By 1908 Mansfield Shoe Co. had four sites in the town and was producing over a million pairs of shoes a year.

The boots are in excellent condition for age. The only minimal issue I can see is that the original foam between the outer faux leather and inner black nylon lining is deteriorating slightly and some of the dust from it comes through the lining. This does not detract from the boots or cause any problems for wearing.

The boots have a white faux fur insole and heel.

The boots are adjustable with three buckle fastenings to the outer sides.

On some of the photo's it appears that the boots are slightly different colours, but is not the case and is down to the light. The boots are identical in colour.
