This medal, the "Commemorative Medal for the Spanish Volunteers in the Struggle against Bolshevism", was awarded to Spanish volunteers who fought alongside German forces in Russia during World War II.

It's often called the "Spanish Volunteer Medal" or the "Blue Division Medal." The nickname "Blue Division" came from the blue shirts the Spanish soldiers wore back home in Spain.

In 1941 the leader of Spain, Francisco Franco, agreed to help Germany by sending Spanish soldiers to fight on the Eastern Front. This was because Germany had supported Franco during the Spanish Civil War. These Spanish soldiers were the only non-German group in the German army to get their own special medal.

I believe it is made of zinc and was brushed in bronze. It is tarnished with age but otherwise in good condition. No ring or ribbon.
