Welcome!

For your consideration:

An Exakta VX 35mm camera circa 1956-57 with a Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm/f2 prime lens. Eye-level viewfinder. Serial #914447. Shutter with speeds to 1/1000th of a second and slow speeds to 12 second exposure. This is a program camera, accommodating Interchangeable finders and lenses. This specimen showing less than average signs of cosmetic use and wear. Recovered in a lovely maroon leather. This appears to be a transitional version of a 1956 VX (last year of VX production) and a 1957 VXIIa (1st year of IIa production).

Condition details:  Body shows very light wear and age signs but no dents or dings. Leather in new condition. Film chamber is clean with only a light usage. Shutter winds and fires and speeds seem about right to me but has not been film tested. Shutter curtains appear light-tight. Lens barrel without dents or dings. Light surface wear and age signs. Focusing is smooth. Aperture adjusts well. aperture pre-set feature works well. Glass without fungus, scratches or separation. Very light haze noted on front element when examined under bright light, but doesn't affect photo outcomes.(see samples taken with this lens on my Nikon D5600). The Biotar lens creates a very pleasing and "bubbly" background bokay when shot at wide apertures. Aperture blades (10) are clean and dry. Includes an aftermarket front cap. Reflex mirror is clean and reflective. Finder glass is clean and bright. Original case in used but serviceable condition.
