This is one of those books that will have few reviews and will be largely ignored or forgotten about when surfing for 'good boxing literature' - if you are one of the many boxing fans wishing to have a good read then this book may be for you. It is an anthology of boxing writing containing some of the best writers in the field. The writing contains sections on Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Muhammad Ali (various pieces), Roberto Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Tyson - the book stops about the time Tyson emerges as a force in the world of boxing so is historical rather than current, but the quality of writing and the insight into the world of boxing is superb. See the book as containing snap shots from some of boxing's greatest rounds with some stories on forgotten heroes such as Beau Jack It also includes Hemmingway's classic short story 50 Grand.
This is truly a great book which will get you into boxing writers like Budd Schulberg and Paul Gallico and is a real pleasure to read and open - I would strongly recommend this HARDBACK format.
