Original 1st Edition hand-coloured Geological Survey of Scotland Map - Sanquhar Sheet 14, covering a large area of Ayrshire, and including the settlements of Prestwick, Ayr, Kirkoswald, Maybole, Ochiltree, Auchnleck, Catrine, Mauchline and Dalmellington, on a scale of One Inch to One Statue Mile.

The map itself is printed on linen backed parchment type paper and measures approximately 61 cm x 46 cm with notes on the wide margins, which have been trimmed. The whole sheet measures approximately 68cm by 48cm and folds to a quarter size. The map itself is generally in good condition, although is marked in places (see photos).

A good example of an early hand-coloured Geological map, which would be of interest to the local historian or serious collector.
