Stunning Vintage 1930s Black, Crepe-Backed Silk Velvet Cocktail Dress with Statement Collar and featuring Eight Large Jet Black Czechoslovakian Glass Buttons front-fastening detail. 

Nice tailoring details eg chevron stitch detail at inside crook of elbow. 

Step-into garment as buttons are functioning and not just decorative.  It may be possible to convert this to a completely button-thru garment as there is another fabric in the construction to do this - I am not entirely sure that this garment may not have been completely button-thru originally due to the pleated placket construction of the garment ~ and then converted.

Measurements (actual measurements of garment laid flat - please do allow room for ease when calculating your own measurements against how this garment will fit):

Underarm to underarm: 15.5"" (39.25cms)

Waist measurement: 13" (33cms)

Hip measurement (taken 7" below waist): 17.25" (43.25cms)

Back across shoulders: 13.75" (35cms)

Length of Sleeve: (measured from top of sleeve to bottom of cuff): 22.75" (57.75cms)

Condition:

Extremely good, clean, used vintage condition. Flaws to note are: (1) right-hand slit pocket stitching has come undone slightly at both ends of slit (please see Photo 9 - which couldn't look worse as flash photography has picked up every speck of dust and highlighted it hideously! Not remotely so bad in reality, by any means!). (2) hem is coming down in places on both lining and main body of garment (Please see photos 6, 7 & 8 - apologies - it seems to look a lot worse when hung up on door!). (3) possible question mark as to whether garment was originally completely button-through and subsequently altered (4) garment's original label is missing (please see Photo 10).

I like to describe things very accurately and probably over-highlight any flaws or potential issues so that a buyer is not in any way surprised or disappointed with the garment's condition.  Other than those noted; I can see no issues.  Lovely piece.
