I'm reluctantly slimming down my banjolele collection so be sure to check out my other listings if you have the banjolele "bug" like me.

I'm offering for sale this 1920s Oscar Schmidt "Professional" melody/tango banjo. I have the banjolele mate to this instrument and the only difference is the neck length. Scale is the same. These are sometimes referred to as melody or tango banjos but it is currently set up as a banjolele.

8 5/16" birdseye maple pot with ebony/maple inlayed bands to match the neck.
13" scale length
1 1/4" nut width
20 tension hooks
All hardware is original, including the original waverly U2006 friction pegs (some of my favorite in design and function) and waverly tailpiece.

Things I did to this banjolele. Made a new bone nut. Cleaned/polished all wood/hardware. Replaced the original calfskin to better position the tensions hooks (so they wouldn't stick out the back). I also leveled and polished the original frets. I strung it up with my favorite strings for most banjoleles: LaBella No. 13 banjolele strings with the aluminum wound 3rd.

I have the original head if you'd like it. It can certainly still be used. On the front you'll find what I believe to be the original owners name "Thomas Jackson '29", and on the back "Betty Anne Jackson '32".

Also included with this sale is what I believe to be a homemade case, that may well be as old as the instrument itself. The "witness" marks inside lead me to believe no other instrument has occupied it. It is built like an absolute tank and is HEAVY. A very unique design. Made from 1/2" solid lumber, a single piano hinge on one end, a latch on the opposite, and lined with green felt. I'll add padding inside for shipping.
