The reverse of the coin presents APOLLO twin brother to ARTEMIS. On the coin Apollo sits before a laurel tree. Apollo is for the most part associated with the bow and the lyre. His gift to humanity being music. On the coin he can be seen holding the lyre. His head is adorned with a wreath of laurel leaves. Beyond him can be seen the laurel tree that was once the nymph Daphne.
In ancient Greek mythology Eros bewitched Apollo to fall in love with the nymph DAPHNE, Apollo had mocked Eros and his archery skills. Daphne rejected the advances from Apollo and fled. When he caught up with her and just as they embraced she turned into a laurel tree. The creative rendition upon the coin reminiscent of Greek pottery has only his name APOLLO inscribed below the image.
