Albany, Oregon in the Willamette Valley celebrated its Centennial on August 25th, 26th, and 27th, 1948 by issuing this 50c token.   It is gold in appearance but is probably brass.  I collected this token because it has a reproduction of the 1849 "Beaver" gold coins of 1849.  These territorial gold pieces came in a 5 and a 10 dollar denominations and featured the beaver.  The initials of the 8 men who were responsible for issuing the coins are featured above the Beaver: Kilborne, Magruder, Taylor, Abernethy, Willson, Rector, Campbell, and Smith.  On this token, the A for Abernethy and the W for Willson have been left off, which is correct for the 10 Dollar coin.
