Exceedingly Pretty True Vintage 1940s Handmade, Handstitched, Sheer Cream Artificial Silk / Rayon (?) Hand Embroidered and Smocked Hungarian Peasant Blouse.  Just gorgeous.

Condition: Beautiful, clean, wearable, used vintage top. Embroidery silk colours vibrant & bright. Stitching neat and well-executed on garment, embroidery high standard of proficiency ~ very nice (as neat on the inside as on the outside! Please see photo 10). Elastic in smocking still stretchy and in good condition. Slit opening on left-hand side (fastened at present with the original brass safety pin it came with ~ which surprisingly seems to keep the garment nicely closed and not showing bits of one's midriff! ~ although photograph (8) shows it pinned just loosely)).The odd loose embroidery thread, some areas where embroidery missing around waistband smocking on back of garment (please see photograph 12) tiny pulls to fabric (ie photograph 11 - and this is the most prominent one) and a rather clumsily executed darn at under left underarm (please see photograph 9).  However, everything is secure, none of the flaws mentioned (imo) are in all honestly noticeable on this amazing blouse and certainly nothing will let you down by busting open or unravelling.

Neither the actual cream colour of the sheer artificial silk or the vibrancy of the embroidery silks are shown to their full advantage in my photos (despite trying every which way, grrr!). I am not sure what the fabric is - it's definitely a man-made fabric of a silky, rayon/early nylon variety. Quick to hand-wash and dries in a jiffy. The fabric is sheer but not transparent. Sheer enough to give intrigue ~ but not indiscreet.

Measurements (please do allow room for ease when calculating your own measurements against how this garment will fit):

Bust (measured with garment laid flat and stretched out): 20" - therefore will fit up to a 34"-36" bust best.

Waist (measured with smocking not stretched: 13.5" - therefore will fit up to 28.5" waist.

Length (measured from front centre of scoop neck): 19.5"
