This is one of Miki Doraʻs most classic contest moments as he terrorized his fellow contestants at the "Malibu Wars" Surf Contest. Two classic articles: "The Day War Came to Malibu," by Bill Cleary, SURFER, January 1966, and "Malibu: the Greatest Contest Ever?" by LeRoy Grannis, Surfing, Dec 1965. The Encyclopedia of Surfing has a cool video showing this ride, about half way in.
