Ridgway Purple Transferware Staffordshire Platter Tyrolean Pattern


Offered is this antique purple transferware platter by William Ridgway & Co. in the Tyrolean pattern. The maker’s backstamp is on the back of the platter and dates from between 1834 to 1854 when this mark was used.


The scene on the platter depicts a river scene in the center with picturesque buildings and foliage. There are two ladies and some goats on the bank of the river in the foreground with mountains in the distance. The center cartouche has a beautiful floral border surrounding it.


The platter measures approximately 14-3/4” by 12”.


It is in very good antique condition. There are no cracks or chips. The glaze has a nice shine. There is some discoloration on the back and to the edges.
