New York State artist Dominick (Dom or Don) Mingolla (1915-2000) created paintings in many different materials and media. He was best known for his abstract expressionist watercolors and for his earlier collectibles art and enameling.

The work at hand is from that earlier period, the '70s and early '80s.  It's a 5 x 7 inch enamel on copper depicting (unusual for the genre, if not the period) a 19th Century clipper ship featuring exceptional detail for the medium.  Nearly indestructible, it's in excellent condition.
