A beautiful complete original antique glass ground lip finished Mason shoulder seal pint fruit jar.
An early Ball Brothers fruit jar produced from an acquired mold when first starting operations in
Muncie,Indiana shortly after leaving Buffalo,New York. Circa 1888 - 1892 prior to the first Ball script.
Very well embossed on its face in thin stick type lettering - MASON'S PATENT NOV 30TH 1858
Some mild typical mold plugging from a well run mold affecting mainly the TH and last 8 in 1858
An acquired mold having the Ball name cut in. The arched block BALL lettering on reverse is strong.
Appears to be a mold number 25 embossed on its base. The jar retains its original [ as acquired ] cover.
A very nice moderately aged clean and damage free solid zinc cover. Top stamping lightly worn but
still all easily visible. <+> GENUINE BOYD CAP <+> FOR MASON JARS with a moon, star and
sun burst pattern in its center. Has a thick white raised circular pattern porcelain liner. Damage free.
Zinc cover is clean and solid with no holes, cracks, splits or dents. A thin crust of hardened lime scale on
the top inside perimeter. The porcelain liner has loosened a bit but there is no fear of it falling out.
Threads easily and fully to the shoulder in sealing. A nice original cover from the jars era of use.
The jar was blown in a light aqua colored glass. Most likely blown in a cold first run of the day mold.
The entire surface shows a very strong surface whittle texture. An eye catching little jar for sure.
The jar is bright clean and clear with no staining from its use. Excellent clarity throughout.
A fairly clean glass batch showing some tiny scattered seeds and bits of debris. A few small blisters on
the mouth and sealing ledge and one lone bubble attached to the last L in BALL. All fully intact.
A lightly used well kept jar over the years that shows in its excellent overall condition. No damage.
No cracks, chips, bruising or abrasions. A very few small fine scattered scratches and light base wear.
Its ground lip and sealing area of the mouth is about Perfect. Very little if any flaking from its use.
Not a nick to be found on the rest of the sealing area. Definitely a very well kept canning jar.
A beautifully crude example of this early Muncie reworked mold BALL fruit jar.
