The First Audubon Society Bird Button Circa 1899. Rare, In Excellent Condition

7/8 size with whitehead and Hoag Backpaper. Paper only used from 1898 to 1899.

An 1896 the Massachusetts Audubon Society was formed. By 1898 there were 15 additional state chapters plus Washington DC. This is the earliest snowing button to carry the Audubon name. It is featured with a backstory on page 106 of the Hake/Carter book “Button Power: 125 Years of saying it with buttons.

Rare in excellent condition.
