An exceptional version of Harriet Martineau's The Peasant and the Prince, circa 1883.

Given on behalf of The School Board of London, to Lily Ashton, by her head teacher, on November 2nd, 1883. Which is a lovely piece of history, and dates this book perfectly. It has an exceptional embossed cover, a remarkably detailed and colour tinted print, worthy of framing and is in overall very good, readable condition.

Cover - rubs to corners, small bits missing from top and base of spine, small marks on front. Back is marked, light indication of damp on one side?

Inside - some lightly visible mesh? reinforcing frontispiece and backpiece. School certificate as shown, some speckling and marks throughout. Few pages just beginning to loosen as shown.
