“Stoat”
(Mustela ermine)

An Original Watercolour Painting

by Wildlife Artist Paul Hopkinson.

Stoats are voracious predators, not afraid to take on prey five times their own size. With their long, thin, and low-slung body, they are experts at hunting rabbits and small rodents. Compared to a Weasel, they have a longer tail with a black tip, and they are larger than them too. They tend to move with a bounding gait, whereas a weasel simply runs close to the ground.

I am a full time professional artist based in North Devon in the United Kingdom. I specialise in wildlife - animals, birds, insects, pets etc. I love to capture the life within my paintings and enjoy the process of working with the watercolour medium to create fine detail.

I teach my style online and enjoy seeing others fall in love with the wonderful medium of watercolour just as I have.  Many of my paintings end up being tutorials in one way, shape or form - so you may even be able to see this painting being created.

Reproduction rights including original paintings remain with the artist.
