For sale is this original antique oil painting on wood panel.  It is one of two similar I am selling this week by the same artist.  This one is a marine painting showing a couple of sailing ships on the horizon and a shell fisherman in the foreground.  I would estimate it was painted in the late 19th century, possibly around 1880 to 1890.  There is a label verso claiming the artist is Thomas Clifton Paris (1818-1908) but I can't confirm this is the artist.  There is period Boots label verso.  The wood panel measures about 9 x 12 inches.  The gilt wood frame measures about 14 x 17 inches.  Total weight of frame and painting is about 1914 grams.  The painting is in pretty good condition although either the original varnish has yellowed over time or there is some nicotine staining from smoke.  The gilt wood frame has some losses and has been over-painted in parts with gold paint.  Please refer to photographs.
