Genuine Vintage 1951 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Precision Black Gilt Dial Ref.6098 Pre-Explorer Big Bubbleback with Brand New Nato Strap and Box. Pre-owned Condition.

Reference 6098 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Precision is a very interesting watch. In fact, the reference 6098 is known as the Pre-Explorer as it was the watch supplied by Rolex and used on the successful Everest expedition in 1953 that led to the launch of the iconic Explorer watch. The original black gilt dial has been restored in the past, it has some aging and turns a lovely tropical brown color. The 36 mm (excluding crown) stainless steel case is in good condition with only the most minimal signs of wear. It has the original Super Oyster crown as well. 10.5L A-296 cal.775 Perpetual automatic movement is running well, however it has not been machine/time tested and service history unknown, so we can't guarantee accuracy of vintage watch as they may need cleaning or servicing. Vintage watches may gain or lose a small amount of time per day as they do not keep quartz accuracy. Inside case back stamped 6098. Between lugs it stamped 6098 and the serial number 72xxx which confirms the year of manufacture as 1951. This big bubble back comes with brand new olive green color nato strap and Rolex coffin green box.
