About Pygmalius Tokyo
Pygmalius operation is owned by Bunkyo Gakki of
Japan (a rare instrument dealer that ventured into - and succeeeded greatly -
in fine instrument making). Pygmalius specializes in fine stringed instruments,
predominantly violins. Pygmalius may not be widely known in the United States
but is considered one of the top brands in Japan and is highly regarded and
popular. Bunkyo Gakki is also famous for its other subsidiary, Archet a Tokyo, which makes
excellent - and equally expensive - bows. For perspective, the least expensive
violin outfit in Pygmalius' current line-up, the Standard, retails in Japan for
approximately $1,500.
