Respectable Attire for Responsible People

PLEASE NOTE:  These are, in fact, MEN'S SHOES!  But mindful that many fashion-forward and vintage enthusiast women adore the look of a proper "brogue"correct to the original Scottish/Irish-born shoe...  and the fact that a MEN'S SIZE 7.5C (narrower width) shoe often makes for a terrific women's 9B standard width fit... we decided to offer these jet-black minty gems under both the "Men's Dress Shoes" and "Women's Shoes Flat" item categories.

Impeccably handcrafted by the artisan shoemakers at Nettleton Shoes of Syracuse, NY, these jet-black vintage longwing wing tip gems in classic pebble grain calfskin are timeless made in US
A "Anglo/American" classics with a rich Irish/Scottish heritage.

The company was founded in 1879 as a manufacturer of high-end men's footwear.  Sadly, the great maker closed its factory doors in 1984 as material and labor costs rocketed in the face of foreign competition and a dwindling market for classic and exotic leather footwear.

Also known as a brogue... this longwing was "born" as a sturdy outdoor shoe in the Irish and Scottish Highlands.  It owes that name to the distinctive perforations (or "broguing") that originally went right through the uppers to allow the leather to dry more quickly in wet climates.

The extra-heavy-duty double-leather soles on these rare Nettletons also speak to shoe's rugged outdoor/country intentions... and the "pinking" (serrated edges) finishing the toe, wing, and collar panels are also true to the origin design.

More insights: This Nettleton model carries an open "Derby/Blucher" closure for additional comfort and a more flexible fit.  See the diptych of two "borrowed" images in our album comparing "Flaps/No Flaps" and illustrating the difference between this shoe with two distinct panels/flaps holding the lace points --and-- an "Oxford/Balormal" with closed/no flaps closure.

And they are in incredible minty condition with:

PLEASE NOTE: All-leather heels carry some 40 metal nails total plus and each holds a metal stud to prevent heel wear... so you'll definitely have to removed these hefty (1lb 4oz each) longwings at any TSA or similar checkpoint.

See all photos --inside and out-- as they are the best description of condition.  This is a final sale.  We can not assure your satisfaction with fit.

Shipping is via USPS Ground Advantage in the USA and by eBay's International Shipping Program elsewhere. Postage is calculated by USPS based on these sturdy Nettletons weighing-in just under 3lbs and distance from upstate New York to your registered eBay zip code. We do not charge a handling fee.
