Welcome to this no-reserve auction...  To the high bidder goes the pictured Lot of Three Pairs of Vintage, ORANGE-TAB LEVI'S BLUE JEANS... that once belonged to an Inmate at the Old Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison, IA...  * The story I am told of these by the owners of the SE Iowa-based auction house at which I acquired them is only that the inmate's sister--whom they know personally--took possession of them at some point after the closure of the old ISP facility and that they then "ended up in a storage unit."   * The inmate--Robert Allen Cornell--was found guilty of first degree murder in 1978 and was sentenced to life in prison. Jeans are prison marked as pictured. * All three retain their ORANGE TABS... Only one has its back Levi's Tag... Two are marked as being Men's Size 36 X 32; one on both the back tag and inner tag and the other on the inner tag only. Varied condition; none with notable damage to the denim. All three retain their Orange Tabs; which are all clean and in otherwise excellent shape. One pair shows very light wear; with no apparent fading, its back tag intact, and but one small spot of discoloration. The other two are missing their back tags, show some fading and wear along the bottom hem and front pocket areas, and have 2-3 stain spots each (see pics). One--the lightest colored piece--has its inner tag sewn together/over and cannot be unfurled (without tearing it).    Please inspect pics carefully BEFORE bidding and do not bid if you expect to receive items that are somehow "better" than the ones pictured and described here.
