Maine/New Mexico artist Abigail (Abbie) Williams (1947-  ) was a newly-single Mom with two kids to support when she began her 20-year association with Chicago collectibles company Roman, Inc.  One of her earliest projects (1986) was the popular "Lord's Prayer" series of Hamilton Collection plates including one entitled "As We Forgive" for which this pastel on paper was the original artwork.

The work at hand is 19/12 x 19 1/2 inches and includes a period 22 1/2 x 22 1/2 inch circular double mat.  The piece is signed in the field and ink-signed in the lower left corner.  The art itself is in very good condition for ephemera, the colors still clear and bright.  Each corner, however, is marked with about 1 x 2 1/2 inches of either tape gum residue or negative shadow where tape lifted the pigment during production preparation.  Likewise, the extreme lower right corner shows a 1/4 inch cut/dogear in the paper.  The mat shows slight yellowing from age which some might consider a feature, rather than flaw.
