A September 1963 Radio Times mail-order Beatles pin-up photograph with its original mailing envelope and backing card.

Details: In The Beatles London, Piet Schreuders, Mark Lewisohn & Adam Smith detail the photograph session with
regular Radio Times photographer Don Smith as taking place in the Washington Hotel, Curzon Street, London,
W1 on 29 July 1963. Some of the shots were used in the magazine itself.

This one was 'rotary printed' as a high quality glossy 10 x 8 inch (25.5 x 20.5 cm) photograph to be sold for 2 shillings 6 pence via a mail order coupon in the magazine as part of its ongoing 'Portrait Gallery' series of the stars of the time.

The first coupon appeared in the 12 September 1963 issue, see pic 7, and was accompanied by a two page promotional feature as shown in picture 8. (Pics 7 & 8 are included for illustration only and are not part of this auction.)

When RT received the coupons, they cut out the address portion and stuck them onto the mailer. The postal date franked on the envelope is 4 October 1963.

Condition. Very minor corner bumping to photo. Envelope is excellent. See pics.

International postage quoted is for USA & Australia. For Europe it would be £12. Other territories also differ. Either ask for a revised invoice if you win or pay the full amount and I'll refund any significant overpayment when I mail the item. If I occasionally forget... remind me!

Please see my other items. I try to list items of Beatles memorabilia / merchandise every week or two, so if you're a collector, why not add me to your saved sellers list?

I will combine postage where possible.
