180 million year old dinosaur coast Whitby fossil 3” ammonites in nodules x3 Beachrolled-Seaworn 2/12(1)
Up for auction are these 3 dinosaur coast Whitby fossil ammonites all in differing condition having been sea worn and beach rolled with the outer keel/ whorls/shell showing still in the nodules as found as can be seen in the pictures, there are chips, nicks, knocks and quite a bit of wear to outer keels and some distortion as expected and covered in the surrounding rock matrix.
These are located and found in remote and dangerous locations along the Whitby coastline.
All around the 3” mark
These specimens are ideal for preparation by palaeontologists, fossil collectors, museums, students and general collectors and for children’s first fossils as they are almost complete but need to be extracted from the surrounding affixed rock by either careful drilling, grinding and cutting in order to reveal the hidden beautiful detail.

No centre on any Ammonite in a nodule can be guaranteed as a lot depends how the Ammonite was preserved and its surrounding rock and nodule chemical content so there may be times when extraction may fail however no complaints from the hundreds sold so far.
For those that prefer the good old hammer and chisel sometimes they can be cracked open with varying results. With the right equipment they can also be cut in half and polished to reveal beautiful detail of the inner chambers ideal for display
These specimens when either fully exposed for the natural detailed look or cut in half and polished will easily fetch over £30 each in South coast fossil shops. As expected fossils such as these are of a nice size, weighty and bulky and are just under 2 kilo in total weight
Postage and packing within the UK second class £4.75
