Popular British Artist Charles Greville Morris (1861-1922) was one of the more prominent members of the St. Ives (Cornwall) school of plein air painters in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  Naturally, they all did landscapes but Morris tended to paint his small.

The work at hand is a 6 x 8 inch oil on millboard bucolic scene probably from around 1900.  (Morris moved to Dorset in 1905.)   Allowing for its having been lugged all over the countryside and 120 years of age, the painting is in good condition.  However, it would certainly benefit from removal of the elderly coat of varnish it currently sports.
