This auction is for three comics created by me, Steve Peters. Each one includes "jam comics", and each one has one jam panel drawn by Sergio Aragones, among many other great comix creators.
The first is Everwinds #1. In it, a shaman in the magical land of Everwinds explains to his pupil, a fox, that his world is a crossroads reality, full of invisible portals to other dimensions. He gives the fox special sight that allows him to see the portals. On the last page, he's looking at the portals, and in one of them, Sergio drew Groo and Rufferto looking back at him. There's also jam drawings by Greg Hyland, Dave Cooper, Gahan Wilson, and David Chelsea.
The second is Awakening Comics #0. It has a backup jam comic featuring "Rabbit Hell" which is where 'toons go when they've been forgotten. Rabbit Hell's protagonist, Bel the Cartoon Messiah, has a prophetic dream in which a reality rift is opened, allowing cartoon characters from other worlds to enter Rabbit Hell. Once again, Groo and Rufferto show up, this time at a funeral.The jam art includes beautiful contributions from Stan Sakai, Paul Chadwick, Gahan Wilson, Evan Dorkin, Greg Hyland, Steve Remen, Mark Bode, Jim Lawson, and David Chelsea. Less elaborate jam contributions include cameo appearances of characters drawn by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, Ben Edlund, David Mazzuchelli, Colleen Doran, Howard Cruse, Steve Bissette, Marc Arsenault, Peter Bagge, Dan Clowes, Bob Camp, Bill Wray, Bob Fingerman, Bill Neville, Rod Ollerenshaw, Jeff Peters, and David Nowell.
The third and last book is Tails of Sparky #1. This book is full of jam comix featuring the half-angel, half-devil Sparky. Mr. Aragones drew an alien in a spaceship that becomes the main character in that jam.
The 1- to 4-page jams appearing in TAILS #1 are sometimes done with his my and students; others were passed around at comic conventions, including SPACE, MOCCA, SPX, and Mid-Ohio Con. One was done online at ComicSpace.com. These jams include contributions by Tom Scioli (Godland), Greg Hyland (Lethargic Lad), Matt Dembicki (Mr.Big), Max Ink (Blink), Jay Hosler (Clan Apis), Dale Martin (Watusi), Jason Thompson (Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath), Bryan Kane, Lee Thacker (One For Sorrow), The Fraim Brothers (America Jr.), Wes Molebash (You'll Have That), Zander Cannon (Top 10), Paul Friedrich (Onion Head Monster), Matt Feazell (Cynicalman), Pam Bliss, Wally Crane (Sheba), Scott Berwanger (Anubis), Stan Yan (The Wang), and Bryan Glass (Mice Templar). The cover is a take-off on the opening sequence of The Brady Bunch (it includes the line "Here's the story of a man named Sparky"). It features nine Sparkys drawn by nine different artists---some of my most frequent collaborators---Daniel Sponton, EJ Barnes, Lee Thacker, Eric Wilmoth, Max Ink, David Mack, James Kochalka, and Dave Sim.
