Abingdon Pottery in Illinois made various vases and other art pottery from 1934 to 1950.

This wall pocket shape # 586 that Abingdon called Calla Wall Vase was made only from 1947 to 1948.  An example of this vase can be seen on page 111 of the 1997 Abingdon reference book - Abingdon Pottery Artware by Joe Paradis - where one from my collection was photographed.  (It may or may not be this one as I have had several over the years.)

It has an off-white background glaze and was hand-decorated with a glossy dark green glaze on the leaves at the bottom and yellow accents around the flaring top rim.

It is about 7-1/2 inches tall, the bottom is about 1-1/2 inches wide and tapers up to the top rim that is about 3-3/4 inches wide.  The floral shape has 5 "panels" with a flat back for easy hanging.

The rectangular Abingdon mark is on a side panel near the back edge and the shape number 586 has been scratched in by hand.

It is in good vintage condition - no chips, hairlines, or crazing - & the mold is very crisp with well-defined detail.  It does have some glaze bubbling on the front panel near the leaves as shown in the 5th photo.  This is a duplicate from my own collection but it is time to move it on to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have.
