DESCRIPTION

The two volumes bound together here encompass all issues published in the year 1894. Volume CVI contains issues from January 6th to June 30th, and Volume CVII contains issues from July 7th to December 29th.

'Punch' was a popular satirical weekly magazine, published from 1841 to 1992, and established by Henry Mayhew and wood-engraver Ebenezer Landells.

The magazine helped coin the term 'cartoon' in reference to humorous illustration.

These volumes are individually paginated and each have their own title page.

With countless vignette and full page illustrations throughout.

These volumes include chapters from George Meredith's novel 'Lord Ormont and His Aminta', discussions of goings on in Parliament, the Grand National, and of women's rights. Darwin's theory of Evolution is also referenced, as is Aubrey Beardsley.
