[Belaney, Archibald Standfeld.] Grey Owl. A Biographical Note and A Day at Beaver Lodge. London: Lovat Dickson Limited, 1937.

8vo. pp. 12; illusts., a little creased to margins, else very good in original pictorial wrappers, a little soiled, with, loosely inserted, a 1p. Grey Owl Lecture Tour programme, and also inserted a pamphlet, Grey Owl's Farewell to the Children of the British Isles (Lovat Dickson Limited, second printing, 1938, 8pp. in original wrappers, soiled).

This is a souvenir from Grey Owl's second lecture tour of Britain in 1937 and 1938. Born in Hastings, England, in 1888, as Archibald Belaney, he sailed for Canada in 1906, becoming a fur trapper and forest ranger. He adopted the identity of a Native American, and his experiences of life in the wilds formed the basis for his writings and lecture tours, which promoted conservation. Beaver Lodge became his home on Ajawaan Lake, in the Prince Albert National Park, Saskatchewan, Canada.
