Dozens of Batik artists come to the Bazar Artesanto in Maputo, Mozambique, each week to sell their traditional wax-resist dyed fabric artworks.  One, who used an updated version of the local Tsonga attenuated tribal style, was an artist known only as "Hernani".  He was around for a while about 20 years ago and sold well until one day he wasn't there anymore.  He never came back again.

The work at hand, depicting women carrying pots, is a 12 x 22 inch batik wall hanging.  It's signed in the field "Hernani" and dated "06".  The (probably) cotton cloth shows no signs of age and the colors remain bright and clear.
