Used but in excellent condition a replica British Army 1940 pattern battledress blouse and parachutists trousers ideal for reenactment purposes. No insignia ever fitted.

The jacket is a size 40 and is a superb copy of the 1940 austerity pattern blouse.

The 1940 pattern blouse was introduced in 1942; it deleted the fly front so the front buttons, as well as the pocket and cuff buttons, were now exposed. Pocket pleats to the blouse were removed, early manufacture included two inside pockets but this was soon reduced to a single inside pocket (as this example has)

Plastic buttons were introduced, rather than the brass dished buttons of Battledress, Serge.

Whilst based on the standard 1940 pattern trousers these are made to the special pattern issued to members of the parachute regiment and other special forces only. They feature an expanding pocket on the left leg secured by a button and two press studs (leather lined as per the originals) and, in addition to the standard field dressing pocket on the right hip, two further field dressing pockets to the rear to carry additional dressings. There is also the small pocket on the right leg seam to carry the Fairbain Sykes fighting knife.

They are a size 30 waist and have a 32 inch inside leg.

The blouse and trousers are a matching pair in colour and material and the jacket bears a makers label for De Brandenburger Co.

In addition to the uniform the lot includes a genuine 1937 pattern belt with brass fittings and a pair of wartime dated field dressings in their unopened cloth pouch. The belt has been scrubbed and would benefit from being re-blancoed. Any size or date markings have been rubbed away.

An excellent start for anyone starting out in reenactment or simply a nice display item.
