SIR: In compliance with a joint resolution of Congress, approved July 28, 1866, "authorizing the Secretary of War to settle with the Territory of Colorado for the militia of said Territory employed in the service of the United States in 1864 and 1865," I have the honor to send herewith a statement from the Adju- tant General's office, dated October 21, 1867, containing the information called for in the resolution, and the reasons why it was not furnished before this time. JOINT RESOLUTION authorizing the Secretary of War to settle with the Territory of Colorado for the militia of said Territory employed in the service of the United States in the years eighteen hundred and sixty-four and eighteen hundred and sixty-five.


Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be author- ized to settle with the proper authorities of the Territory of Colorado for the
