This is a custom made narrow gauge engine with DCC with sound. D&RGW #141. It is a used Life Like Proto 2000 SW9 mechanism that has been modified and re-gauged to run on HOn3 track with custom installed Kadee HOn3 couplers. The shell has been repainted an decaled for the D&RGW.
This is a great running engine with a stock flywheel motor. This engine runs smoothly with good throttle response and good slow speed on DCC. LED reversing headlights are installed. I used a Digitrax DH126 for DCC motor control [#03] with an add on XL Systems sound module. The sound is loud and sounds great.
The D&RGW ran several diesel narrow gauge engines for testing and operational experience, so you have a prefect excuse to run a diesel on your layout!
Some adjustment of the your layout scenery may be required for clearance.
This engine doesn't care about dusty track. It's heavy enough to still make electrical contact unlike the light little narrow gauge steam engines. It doesn't care about pulling up grades because it's heavier and pulls better. So if you have dodgy, dusty, grades and delicate little steam engines that don't run well with dirty wheels, you'll love this engine for its ability to add much needed reliability to your road!
Wear out your layout without wearing out your expensive brass loco's and have some fun at the same time!

Dear jeepcaptain,
Note to anyone who's not sure if they want this (or a custom engine he'll build
for you) I can say that I've bought 3 of these engines over the years and they
are hands down the best deal if you're looking for affordable motive power. If
you model in HOn3 (I model the East Broad Top) you just can't go wrong with
these engines.

Message from JxxxU,
The package arrived in only three days. The locomotive is heavy and
runs well even on dirty track. I wanted a good narrow gauge loco
that would run right out of the box without hours of tinkering and
this is just as it is described. Highly recommended.
