Circa 1960 Cold War fallout shelter food - Multipurpose Food (MPF) produced by General Mills in January of 1960, at the height of the Cold War. MPF was a soy based powder intended to be mixed with water to provide nutrition in the event of a natural disaster or the aftermath of a nuclear war. This product was widely distributed and stocked in fallout shelters during the Cold War era.

My father purchased these cans of MPF as a carton of 6 cans, and the carton was stored in our utility room. Luckily, we never needed to use them. Some 50 years later I found the carton in my dad's attic, and apparently he had disposed of 3 of the cans (the house was being sold and we were clearing it out). So, what is left is the original carton and the three cans. The cans are in good shape - the metal lids are still shiny and the labels are clean and very legible. The can tops are stamped 1 5 60, which I beleive is a date code. I am selling the cans of MPF individually. I have one can left, and the box is gone.

The cans are the size of gallon paint cans, and weigh a little over 5 pounds each.

Note: This should be obvious, but these cans of MPF are being sold as collectible relics from the mid 20th century - not a consumable food product.
